The Bugaboo Bee has been incredibly popular with parents since its introduction in 2007, so when the  Bugaboo Ant appeared on the scene, they wondered what was different and how they compared to one another. While either stroller would make an excellent choice, it’s worth taking an in-depth look at the features of each.

The Essential Differences

Both the Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Ant are considered lightweight strollers. The Bee weighs in at 19.62 lbs, while the Ant manages to shave a few pounds off, coming in at 15.8 lbs. The Ant manages this by being more compact. Even the quickest glance reveals the ant to be noticeably smaller.

This disparity in size comes from the design goals for the two strollers. The Ant was created to fit into an overhead bin on airplanes, making it ideal as a travel stroller, while the Bee was intended to be more of a lightweight all-purpose stroller.

The end result of the design differences is that the Bee is a larger, somewhat heavier but still lightweight stroller that is sturdier and has more options, while the Ant is an extremely compact stroller that is agile, easily manoeuvrable, and perfect for travel.

• The Ant, as a smaller stroller, has a much more compact fold than the Bee, but the trade-off is that while the Bee folds with one quick and easy motion, the Ant requires a few steps.
• Both strollers offer a smooth ride on all-wheel suspension. The Ant has two 5” wheels and two 6” wheels, while the Bee’s wheels are all 6”.
• While both the Bugaboo Ant and the Bugaboo Bee have adjustable handlebars, the Bugaboo Bee’s handlebar offers more positions, while the Ant’s handlebar extends even when the stroller is folded, allowing it to be used as a trolley handle.
• As you might expect, the canopy on the Bugaboo Bee is somewhat larger. By comparison, the Bugaboo Ant has premium style kits featuring a hood with mesh windows, giving it greater breathability.

• The Bugaboo Ant has a smaller seat that the Bugaboo Bee, but both strollers have reversible, reclinable seats. 
• The Bugaboo Bee’s larger size allows it to offer a greater number of recline positions.
• The Bugaboo Bee comes with a rain cover. The Bugaboo Ant does not, but has one available for purchase if desired.

The  Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Ant are both capable of accepting an infant car seat when adapters are used. The Bee is also capable of use with a bassinet. The Ant, meanwhile, uses a cocoon for use with infants.
