Any time Bugaboo launches a new product, there is bound to be excitement, and the arrival of the Bugaboo Stardust is no different!

Launched this August, the Stardust is Bugaboo’s new playard for your little one. Whether it’s used to provide a safe place to play or a secure sleeping area, the Bugaboo Stardust is a great choice, but how does it compare to competition like the popular Nuna Sena?

Overview

Both the Bugaboo Stardust Playard and the Nuna SENA have their selling points. The Nuna SENA, for example, has a variety of colours, with more optional accessories. The Nuna SENA’s mesh sides and mesh-covered ventilation panels in the mattress allow unprecedented ventilation, keeping your little one cool and dry during naptime. A one-handed fold (and an included travel bag) makes it convenient to pick up and put away.

The Bugaboo Stardust also has a convenient fold, taking barely 3 seconds to fold and hardly more than one to assemble. The mattress conveniently folds with the playpen and the zip-in bassinet for newborns means less bending when picking up baby.

Size and Weight Comparison

The Nuna SENA playard offers a bit more length than the Stardust, but less width. The Nuna SENA Aire gives an additional 16 inches of length, while the Stardust is as much as 14 inches wider as well as 7 inches taller. The dimensions may be an issue for some, depending on the space available.

Both the Nuna SENA and the Stardust fold up nicely to store in their travel bags, and both can be tucked away neatly when not in use.

• Stardust: 25”L X 38.8” W X 33.5” H
• SENA Aire: 41.3”L X 30”W X 29”H

Folded Dimensions

• Stardust: 25.6”L X 5.5”W X 33.5” H
• SENA Aire: 11”L X 13”W X 31.5”H

Between the two, the Stardust is the lighter one, weighing in at 14.8 lbs. The Aire is noticeably heavier at 22 lbs.

Features and Accessories

Both playards have additional cotton sheets available for purchase, and the Aire comes with one sheet. Nuna also offers a changer for purchase which can be added to the top of the Nuna SENA Aire to make diaper changes easier and more convenient. A waterproof mattress cover and insect net are also available for the Nuna SENA.

Colours and Fabrics

If you are looking for a choice of colours, this is one area where the Aire has an advantage. The Bugaboo Stardust is currently available only in black, whereas the Nuna SENA Aire has three colour choices: Aspen (blue), Caviar (black), and Granite (grey).

Both the Bugaboo Stardust and the Aire are excellent, high-quality playards that can keep your little one safe and comfy. Coming in at virtually the same price point, either choice is sure to please. The Aire might appeal if you are interested in a particular colour, or the Stardust may be your choice for the lighter weight and thus greater portability.
