So what has made Foonf unique? You may have seen the WTF letters about, you maybe thinking why am I swearing, but this WTF stands for What The Foonf! What is the Foonf  I hear you ask, well I’m going to do my best to tell you.

Hi, my name is Stef Green and many customers who have visited the Active Baby store on Wednesday mornings will recognize me as the lady with the crazy socks who jumps around with their children for imagination story time. I have had the privilege of leading many imaginary adventures with these beautiful little minds that have stayed to play at the weekly story time, and we have been on fabulous imaginary journeys right there in the store.

For me, I know that using our imaginations a little when it comes to helping my kids find new ways to play with their toys, has numerous benefits. Automatically we have a whole new set of toys, a whole new set of learning experiences, but more importantly it demonstrates to our next generation that thinking outside the box can lead to great things, and encourages them to use their own imagination to find new ways of doing things.

This in itself is a fantastic gift to give to our children which we can help develop into a very important life-skill for their future.

For example, small wooden animals, or standup character toys can be collected up together and used in completely new and interesting ways:

Measuring: How long is your foot? or how tall are you? Children enjoy trying to guess how many characters placed head to toe it would take to make a line as tall as themselves on the floor, then see if they were right.

Patterns: Sort characters in size order, or make a pattern with person/ animal/person/animal

Skittles: Stand 10 or 15 characters up on a flat surface and roll a bouncy ball at them for a good impromptu game of skittles.

When I am buying new toys, I naturally start thinking of all the different ways they can be used. Some of our favorite multi functional toys are the simplest ones, but you may also be amazed at the creative ways that children can use all kinds of household items when given the opportunity.

Look around at the toys that havn’t been touched for a while, can they be given a new lease of life if used in a different way? Spend a little time down on the floor with your kiddies and enjoy trying out new things as you all figure out new fun ways to play with the same old toys.Even if only for a short while, let yourself be absorbed into the beautiful innocent world of child play with your little ones, it will be these memories that will truly be the most valuable treasures to you and your children.

Not a question I thought I’d hear myself ask out loud, but do you need one? Let me rephrase that. You do need one! Why? You ask. Let me explain!

The Bugaboo Donkey is the latest stroller to come from the Bugaboo collection.  With all the storage it offers you will no longer feel like a pack mule carrying all the baby’s belongings. It all fits in.

The Bugaboo Donkey stroller starts as a single stroller, the Mono, stretches to the Duo. Have twins? It can start as the Duo, but if you only need to take one baby out it shrinks back to the single.
Need to fit a lot of groceries under the basket, stretch that single to the double width and you’ve gained some extra space.

The innovative mechanism allows for it to go back and forth from single to double with ease, its just the matter of 3 quick clicks, and safe to do while a child is in the stroller.

The Bugaboo website says “Imagine leaving your home – in duo position – with your two kids. You drop one off at the daycare center then continue – in mono position – with your other kid. It’s that easy.”  Sure sounds easy but what do you do with the toddler seat? Leave it at daycare? Maybe.  After seeing it and chatting with the rep we figured you can slide the seat off and put it underneath, Maybe not practical if you are off to grocery shop before picking up your toddler. But the only way to go back to mono with out leaving the seat in the car or at daycare!

Its light weight and very easy to fold, keep the seats/carrycot on, or take them off a flatter fold. Remove the wheels and it stores even flatter. Bugaboo tested their stroller in some 30 different makes of cars and got it to fit every time, So I’m sure with a test run you’ll find the perfect fit in your vehicle too.

It is on the expensive side, but if I had to buy just one stroller that would have fit my needs over the last 5 years this would have been it. Bugaboo Donkey where are you 5 years ago?
